“Bright Moon Mind” is an ambient composition recorded/produced in the spring and summer of 2013. The title is a reference to a phrase used by Geri Larkin — writer and founder of Still Point Zen Buddhist temple in Woodbridge, Detroit, MI. A “bright moon mind spot” is a spot on which a meditator intensely focuses their gaze for the duration of a meditation sitting. Through the emergence and disappearance of consonant and grating sonorities from an anchored, slowly evolving drone, the piece sonically reflects experiences in meditation: the rise, fall, and simultaneity of pleasurable and painful psychological sensations against the background of an impartial awareness.
